Kyanja District Camp Meeting 2026: A Week of Revival, Mission and Renewed Commitment
For eight days, the Kyanja District of Seventh-day Adventists came together with worship, praise, fellowship, prayer and a renewed call to mission as members and visitors converged at the district camp meeting grounds in Kyanja. Under the leadership of Ev. Paul Nsubuga, the district leader, 2026 camp meeting centred on Christ, Christian growth and the Great Commission, bringing together adults, youth and children respectively, with attendance noticeably higher than in previous years across the different camp meeting sites.
The main speaker Pr. Kakuru Benard from Bunga, whose messages challenged the church to look beyond activity, programmes and outward appearance and return to the heart of the Christian mission—Jesus Christ and the salvation of people.Throughout the week, Pr. Kakuru repeatedly reminded the congregation that being active in church does not automatically mean being spiritually alive.
One of the key messages was:
“You can be active in church but still remain spiritually dry.” His 8 day message challenged Christians to examine whether their involvement in church is producing genuine spiritual growth and a deeper relationship with Christ.
Another powerful emphasis was the danger of having good morals without Christ. The speaker reminded the congregation that: “You can have good morals but without Christ…”
Good behaviour, singing, giving and participation in church activities are valuable, but they should never replace the central mission of leading people to Christ.
He also challenged the church concerning the purpose of its programmes, observing that:
“The church is busy but fruitless.”
The message was not a call to abandon church programmes, but rather a challenge to ensure that every programme contributes to the mission of the church. As he emphasized, too many programmes can benefit members while failing to advance the mission of reaching others.
A recurring theme throughout the preaching was the Great Commission, reminded the church that Christianity is not simply about enjoying fellowship within the church. The Lord calls His people to go out, reach others and share the message of Christ.
Throughout the week, people accepted Christ and were baptized, giving the entire district reason to rejoice and thank God.
These decisions are a reminder that beyond the sermons, programmes and large gatherings are individual lives being touched by the Gospel. Every person who chooses Christ represents a victory for the Kingdom of God.The district therefore gives all glory to God for the souls reached during the camp meeting and prays that those who have accepted Christ will continue growing in faith and remain firmly rooted in Him.
The 2026 camp meeting stood out because of everyone's prayer, giving and attendance.
The Kyanja District warmly appreciates Pr. Kakuru Benard, additionally Special appreciation also goes to Ev. Busigye Joshua, the co-speaker, together with the other speakers and ministers who contributed to the spiritual nourishment of the congregation throughout the week not forgetting every kyanja member and our dear visitors, alongside the work of pastors, elders, departmental leaders, volunteers, musicians, youth leaders, children's ministry workers and all those who served behind the scenes, helped make the camp meeting a meaningful experience.
