Henani: Here i am! Answering God's Call: Lessons from Jonah, Peter, and Samuel

Drawing lessons from the lives of Jonah, Peter, and Samuel, Mrs Dinah Kalumba reminded us that God's call is not reserved for the extraordinary, but often comes to ordinary people who are willing to be used by Him.

Jonah's story teaches us that it is possible to hear God's voice and still choose to run in the opposite direction. Fear, doubt, personal preferences, and comfort zones can sometimes prevent us from responding positively to God's assignment. Yet, God's purpose remains, and His call continues until we surrender to His will.

In contrast, Peter's fishing experience demonstrates that obedience to God's word can lead to remarkable results. Despite a night of unsuccessful labor, Peter responded to Christ's instruction and witnessed a miracle. His willingness to trust and obey marked the beginning of a life of powerful ministry.

Young Samuel also serves as a beautiful example of an attentive heart. Though inexperienced, he responded, "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening." His openness and humility enabled him to become one of Israel's greatest prophets.

As we reflected on these stories, we were reminded that God often calls the humble, the available, and the open-minded. The question posed to each of us was simple yet profound: Why would you not answer God's call for service?

As we concluded Women's Emphasis Day and prepare to enter the Men's Evangelism Thrust, both men and women are encouraged not to be like Jonah. Instead, let us respond willingly, faithfully, and wholeheartedly whenever God calls us to serve.

We warmly ask each of us to invite our family and friends to join us this Sabbath as we host the CUC Education Director, Pr. Ssali Kisakye, during a special Thanksgiving Service Elder Kabangira Richard at the fore front.

This occasion will also mark the official launch of our Men's Evangelism Thrust, 3 weeks dedicated to sharing the gospel and reaching souls for Christ. Every member is encouraged to participate by inviting friends, neighbors, relatives, colleagues, and other visitors to attend. Together, let us fill God's house and make this evangelistic effort a success.

We continue to thank all members who have faithfully contributed toward the Kigogola Church Land Project. Significant progress has been made, but we still have a journey ahead. We appeal to every member to continue giving generously and sacrificially so that this vision may become a reality. Every contribution, regardless of size, brings us closer to securing a permanent home for the church in Kigogola and our annual Camp Meeting draws nearer day by day, with less than two months remaining, we encourage every member to ensure that their camp meeting goal is fully prepared.

Let us remain united in mission, faithful in stewardship, and committed to answering God's call. May we never run from His voice, but instead respond with willing hearts, saying, "Here I am, Lord; send me."
