Men’s Affair and Get-Together
The Adventist Men Ministry of SDA Church Kasangati held a special Men’s Affair and Get-Together, drawing participants from Bulamu, Kyankima and Namavundu for a full-day session of fellowship, learning and spiritual reflection at Victor’s Valley Hotel in Nakwero.
The gathering, aimed at strengthening men’s spiritual and social roles in their families and communities, featured Elder Kibuuka Robert as one of the keynote speakers. His message, delivered with a mix of humour and firm counsel, centered on responsibility, discipline and financial stewardship among men.
He reminded participants that although men are not perfect, they remain the head of the home, symbolically representing the brain, eyes, and voice of the family. He said that God placed men in a demanding role that requires wisdom, intentionality and spiritual grounding.Drawing from the Parkinson Law, he urged men to evaluate how they use their time, noting that “the time you allocate to a task is the time you will spend.” He further emphasized the biblical principle that a man “reaps what he sows,” referencing the book of Galatians.
Using the story of Jacob as a case study, Elder Kibuuka highlighted the dangers of dishonesty and the importance of resilience. He said many men today grow up with emotional wounds that affect their ability to lead effectively, but insisted that God can refine any man who remains committed to Him.
On finances, the speaker warned that many men fall into trouble because they live beyond their means or make purchases out of pressure.“Let money be hard to leave you,” he advised, adding that money should be invested rather than merely saved, and that borrowing ought to be a deeply considered decision.
He stressed that wealth ultimately comes from God, quoting Proverbs: “The blessing of the Lord brings riches.”
He also cautioned that “if there is no peace at home, even your finances will not grow,” urging men to nurture stability in their homes as a foundation for progress.
Elder Kibuuka also encouraged men to engage their communities by identifying needs and offering solutions, saying “money is in the people,” and that service often opens doors to opportunity.
Most importantly it was a call for men to strengthen their relationship with God, with the speaker saying that knowing God is important, but understanding Him and staying with Him through challenges is even more crucial.
During the afternoon session Pastor Mbabaali Caleb delivered a bold and thought-provoking message on the identity and divine role of a man, drawing his teaching from the book of Genesis.
Pastor Mbabaali explained that the distinction between man and woman begins at creation.
“A man was created; a woman was made from a man. We are creations, they are makings,” he said. He argued that this distinction gives men a God-given authority and responsibility, noting that a creation carries authority over a making.
“A woman can trust you simply because of that,” he said, stressing that reliability and consistency form the foundation of trust. Beyond location, he added that a man’s value is rooted in his character, not possessions or appearances.
The lineup also featured Dr. Magezi Peter, who taught about the necessity of proper health management and self-care among men. He highlighted that many men neglect their health, often waiting until complications worsen. Dr. Magezi urged men to adopt preventive habits, prioritize medical checkups, and maintain balanced lifestyles to support their families and responsibilities effectively.
Ev Kateregga Stephen rounded off the session with a candid message on the dangers of pride and underestimation.
He noted that many men fail to grow because they take things lightly or believe they already know everything.
Special recognition to the Adventist Men Ministry leader, Elder Kakumba Patrick, whose leadership, commitment and vision made the day possible.
