God calls each of us for a purpose

20th September was a special sabbath as the global church celebrated World Pathfinder Day marking 75 years of Pathfinders serving strong. Here, the day kicked off with a flag-raising ceremony, led by Pathfinders smartly dressed in their full uniform. Their yellow and vibrant green set the tone for a joyful Sabbath of worship, service, and celebration. The sermon by Nsereko Enoch centred on 1st Samuel 16:7, reminding us that “man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

The preacher illustrated this with the example of Mr. Lubinga Godfrey, the first elder of the church. Who would present excuses of not being skilled in marching drills if called to serve as a Pathfinder director.

Just like David, who stood before Goliath armed with nothing but trust in God, we too are called to step forward with faith rather than excuses. The message was clear: God calls each of us for a purpose, and He looks beyond ability to the heart willing to serve. Adding beauty to the service, the Midland Primary School Choir graced the day with songs of praise. Dressed in bright pink costumes, the pupils filled the church with joyful music from morning to afternoon.

Later in the day, it was cutting of food with cake with dramatic skits of creation that brought the spirit of celebration to life. Truly, it was a greenellow sabbath to remember.
